HC Deb 13 May 1912 vol 38 cc765-6
Mr. LLOYD

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether negotiations are about to be concluded between Great Britain, Germany, and Portugal in regard to Portuguese Colonies; and whether he has any information to give to the House on the subject?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE For FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Acland, for Sir E. Grey)

The question of the future development of the Portuguese Colonies is of course one of great interest to Portugal and to German and British territory that is adjacent to them, and is a subject that has and will no doubt from time to time be a subject of mutual interest and amicable discussion; but the answer to both the questions on the Paper is in the negative.
