HC Deb 09 May 1912 vol 38 c563
Mr. RONALD M'NEILL

asked the Prime Minister whether His Majesty, in appointing the Chairman of the Joint Exchequer Board, under Section 22 of the Government of Ireland Bill, will be advised by the First Lord of the Treasury; and, if so, whether the appointment of the Chairman and that of the two members to be appointed by the Treasury will, in fact, be in the hands of the same individual?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Chairman of the Board will be appointed by His Majesty on the advice of his responsible Ministers. Two members of the Board will be appointed by the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury. If and when the Prime Minister is also the First Lord of the Treasury, he will have a voice in all these appointments, but none of them will be in his hands as an individual.
