§ Mr. FFRENCHasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that dissatisfaction prevails in connection with the revision of the engineering department of the Post Office; will he say why junior officers who did not appear before the advisory board of examiners were granted increased scales of pay whilst the senior officers have been denied these scales up to the present; and will he give the case of the latter his favourable consideration?
§ The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Herbert Samuel)I am aware that natural disappointment exists among those officers not selected to be placed upon the new scales of pay in the engineering department. The selections were 18 made with great care; but they are now under review, and if any error is disclosed it will, of course, be rectified.
