§ The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Trevelyan)I am unable to give the total number of scholars in actual attendance on a given day, but since 1903 the average number of scholars on the registers of public elementary schools in Wales has increased by 35,450. There has been an increase in respect of provided schools of 62,198, and a decrease in respect of Church of England schools of 17,420. The figures relate to the average number on the registers for the years ending 31st July, 1903, and 31st July, 1911.
