HC Deb 28 March 1912 vol 36 c578
Captain CRAIG

asked what is the number of persons in Ireland at present boycotted, wholly or partially, the number under police protection, and the number of police detailed for such special service?

Mr. BIRRELL

On 29th February last there were three cases of complete boycotting affecting six persons, six cases of partial boycotting affecting thirty-six persons, and seventy-eight cases of minor boycotting affecting 320 persons. Seventy-four persons were at that date under constant police protection, 151 police being employed on this duty, and 259 under protection by patrol. It is not possible to say how many police were employed in affording such protection, as different men perform the duty at different times.

Captain CRAIG

Are any of these cases in Ulster?

Mr. BIRRELL

I think not.
