HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 cc2066-7
Mr. BURGOYNE

asked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the increasing practice of roller-skating in the Portobello Road, North Kensington; whether he recognises the damage to trade resultant thereon as shown by the unanimous complaints of the shopkeepers; and what steps he proposes to take to put a stop to it?

Mr. McKENNA

I have not received any representations that the practice of roller-skating is increasing in Portobello Road, nor indeed any complaints in regard thereto. I understand further that the police have not received any complaints, and that they are not of the opinion that the practice is increasing in that road.

Mr. BURGOYNE

Will the right hon. Gentleman receive a deputation of shopkeepers?

Mr. McKENNA

I think the persons concerned had better complain first.
