HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 c2059
Mr. CASSEL

asked the Postmaster-General how many of the London sorters are at the maximum pay of the class, how many are in receipt of wages above the £112 barrier; and the percentage in each case to the whole class of sorters?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

As I stated in my reply to the question put to me by the hon. Member for South Islington on the 15th instant, the number of London sorters at the maximom pay of the class is 2,089, and the number of sorters in receipt of wages above the efficiency bar—44s. a week or £114 15s. a year, not £112 a year—is 4.402. The percentages to the whole class of sorters are 32.86 and 69.25, respectively.
