HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 cc2056-7
Mr. GEORGE TERRELL

I beg to ask the Home Secretary two questions of which I have given him private notice; (1) whether he can state the number of men who complain of having suffered in England, Scotland, and Wales, respectively, through having to work in abnormal places, shortage of tubs, etc.; and (2) the amount of the loss of wages for the years 1910 or 1911 which Die colliers have suffered in England, Scotland, and Wales, respectively, through having to work in abnormal places, shortage of tubs, etc.?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Buxton)

As far as I am aware, there are no records which would enable the information asked for to be given.

Captain FABER

If the Government have no information, why were we told yesterday that there was a shortage of tubs?

Mr. BUXTON

That is a different question. I was asked specifically whether I could say what the effect was in certain years. I think everybody in the House admits such cases do occur.
