HC Deb 21 March 1912 vol 35 c2049
Mr. CRUMLEY

asked the Chief Secretary whether his attention has been called to a resolution of the Enniskillen Rural District Council pointing out the losses suffered by farmers and others in that district and the country generally by the flooding of lands, and urging upon the Government the necessity for a short Drainage Act on the lines of the recommendation of Sir Alexander Binnie's Commission; and what steps he intends taking in the matter?

Mr. BIRRELL

I have received the resolution referred to. Legislation on this subject is impossible during the present Session.

Mr. CRUMLEY

Is the right lion. Gentleman aware that some thousands of pounds worth of property is lost every year by this?

Mr. BIRRELL

I am well aware. The matter has been receiving earnest attention for about 100 years.
