§ Mr. WATTasked the Secretary for Scotland whether the Census register in Edinburgh is accepted as proof of age for old age pension; and, if not, will he say why it is not accepted in Scotland when the register in Ireland is accepted?
The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)The answer, speaking generally, is in the affirmative. There are, however, exceptions; as, for instance, if a birth certificate is found which shows that the age in the Census Return is over stated.
