HC Deb 11 March 1912 vol 35 c819
Mr. FREDERICK WHYTE

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has considered the desirability of extending the provisions of the Factory Acts to railway offices, in view of the frequent complaints that many such offices fail to reach a reasonable standard of cleanliness and ventilation?

Mr. McKENNA

The question has been brought to my notice, but I do not think that the matter is one to be dealt with by an extension of the Factory Acs. Most of the provisions of the Factory Acts would be quite inapplicable to offices, and the question seems one which might more properly be considered in connection with the law relating to public health.
