HC Deb 11 March 1912 vol 35 cc788-9
Mr. STANIER

asked the President of the Board of Agriculture if lie can give a statement of the objects and amounts that the Development Commissioners have subscribed to up to 29th February through the Board of Agriculture, and what has been promised for the future?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am anxious to afford the House the fullest possible information on this subject, and I think that this object can most conveniently be obtained by the issue of a Memorandum setting out in detail the Grants from the Development Fund which have been made by the Treasury to or through the Board up to the close of the present financial year—that is, to the 31st inst—and showing the provision made under each head in the Board's Estimates for 1912–13. I hope that this arrangement will be satisfactory to the hon. Member.

Mr. STANIER

Will the right hon. Gentleman give the conditions laid down by the Development Commissioners with regard to the, making of Grants?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

My object in preparing and issuing the Memorandum will be to give the fullest information possible. The Development Commissioners themselves have voluminous publications on the subject.
