HC Deb 04 March 1912 vol 35 c36
Mr. CATHCART WASON

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the decrease in the population of the rural districts of Shetland, and that the Government have appointed a gentleman to report upon the possibilities of developing Shetland industries, he will appoint a gentleman of experience to report also upon the development and protection of oyster and mussel beds?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

The question of the best methods for the development of the Scottish shell fisheries is at present engaging the attention of the Fishery Board, who will consider the possibilities of the development in Shetland along with other localities.
