HC Deb 04 March 1912 vol 35 c17
Mr. SHEEHY

asked whether Bernard Kelly applied for the position of postman in the village of Kildalky, being strongly recommended by the influential people of the district; whether his application was forwarded to the General Post Office in Dublin; and if so, what was the reply?

Mr. HERBERT SAMUEL

Mr. Bernard Kelly applied for the appointment of postman at Kildalky. He had not been in the employment of the Post Office as boy messenger or in any other capacity, nor had he served in the Army or Navy. He was rightly informed by the surveyor of the district that he had no title to a post on the establishment.
