HC Deb 19 June 1912 vol 39 cc1668-9
59. Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the dispatches regarding the conduct and results of the Abor Expedition have yet been received; and, if so, when they will be laid before Parliament?

The UNDER-SECRETARY Of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Montagu)

General Bower's Report on the recent operations against the Abors has been received. Extracts from the report, giving particulars as to the conduct and results of the expedition, were published in the "Gazette of India" of 25th May, 1912, a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House. It is not proposed to lay further Papers at present.

Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

May I ask whether any fuller dispatches have been received from India?

Mr. MONTAGU

I am still awaiting a full report on the whole matter from the Government of India. If the hon. Gentle-man thinks that further Papers should be published, I will consult my Noble Friend the Secretary of State.
