HC Deb 18 June 1912 vol 39 cc1465-6
6. Sir J. D. REES

asked whether the Secretary of State has received a representation from the chairman of the East India section of the London Chamber of Commerce regarding the omission to appoint a representative of Indian interests to the Imperial Trade Commission; and, if so, what action the Secretary of State proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. MONTAGU

A representation to the effect mentioned by the hon. Member was received by the Secretary of State. In reply the chairman has been informed that His Majesty's Government do not intend to appoint an Indian representative to the Commission.

Sir J. D. REES

May I ask if this is a final and irrefutable decision on this important question?

Mr. MONTAGU

Various questions have already been asked, and, if the hon. Member will refer to them, he will see the reason the Government have come to that decision.
