HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 c1294
19. Colonel BURN

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will favourably consider the petition of the mayor and town council of Torquay that one of His Majesty's new battleships or cruisers shall be named "Torquay," seeing that so many of the bluejackets belong to that town and neighbourhood?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The hon. and gallant Member's suggestion shall receive consideration, but I can give no undertaking.

Colonel BURN

Will the right hon. Gentleman consider the importance of that neighbourhood, and more especially Tor Bay, giving a wider area than Torquay itself, seeing that many men are drawn from Tor Bay?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I say the matter will receive consideration.
