HC Deb 17 June 1912 vol 39 cc1289-90
3. Sir J. D. REES

asked what steps, if any, have been taken to secure the interests of British commerce in Morocco?

Mr. ACLAND

The interests of British commerce in Morocco are protected under the terms of the Anglo-French declaration of 8th April, 1904, and the Franco-German Convention of 4th November, 1911, to which His Majesty's Government adhered on the understanding that British subjects would continue to receive in Morocco as favourable economic treatment as those of any other State.

Sir J. D. REES

Is the hon. Gentleman aware of the action recently taken by the German Government to further German commerce?

Mr. ACLAND

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put down another question on that point.

Mr. HEWINS

Can the hon. Gentleman say when the revised form of the Most-Favoured Nation Clause Treaty with Morocco will be published?

Mr. ACLAND

I must have notice of that question also.
