§ 19. Captain CLIVEasked the Undersecretary of State for War if he will say what is the reason for disbanding the Railway Engineer Battalion at Crewe; and what other means he proposes for utilising the services of these trained railwaymen in time of war?
§ Mr. TENNANTA military organisation for working railways in the United Kingdom in time of war is not considered necessary. It is, however, held to be expedient to secure a limited number of railwaymen who could undertake a liability for service abroad, and proposals for the best method of securing their services are now under consideration.
