London and North-Western Railway Bill [Lords] (by Order),

Second Reading deferred till Friday.

LEA BRIDGE DISTRICT GAS COMPANY BILL [Lords]—(By Order).

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read a second time."

Mr. BOOTH

I object.

The DEPUTY-CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. Maclean)

I hope my hon. Friend will allow this and the subsequent Bills to go through, because I have seen the agent for the promoters, and he tells me that he will give the hon. Member an assurance in writing that the powers contained in this Bill will not be used by the promoters in any way inimical or hostile to the National Insurance Act.

Mr. BOOTH

I withdraw my opposition.

Question put, and agreed to.
