§ 48. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSONasked whether the right hon. Gentleman will take steps to make it known to supporters of the Government in this House that he has no objection to their signing the memorial asking him to publish that portion of the evidence given before-the Committee on Irish Finance in respect of which no pledge of secrecy was made or is now insisted upon?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI see no reason; to take the steps suggested by the hon. Member.
§ Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSONHas the right hon. Gentleman any objection to his supporters signing such a memorial?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI have not, and if I had I do not think it would make much difference.
§ Mr. CASSELWill the right hon. Gentleman not allow the evidence to be published at least of public officials who gave evidence and who have no objection to their evidence being seen in order to give to hon. Members of this House who consider that that evidence will assist them, an opportunity of discharging their duty as Members of this House?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI have answered that question several times already. It is very undesirable that this matter should be disclosed piecemeal.
