HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 cc669-70
Sir JOHN LONSDALE

I have the honour to present a Petition which has been largely signed by women of all ranks in Ireland, who are convinced that serious dangers to their social and domestic liberties will result from the establishment of a separate Legislature and Executive in Ireland. The Petition has been signed by 104,261 persons, and I am informed that all those signatures were collected within a fortnight. The Petitioners have considered the question entirely from the women's point of view. They say no-legislative safeguards would avail to protect them from the dangers they apprehend; and their prayer is that the Honourable Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland in Parliament assembled will reject any legislative proposals that would disintegrate the United Kingdom and expose them to the disastrous consequences of such disintegration.
