HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 c689
52. Mr. HUNT

asked whether, in view of the fact that during the last three years 1,689 cottages have been compulsorily closed in Great Britain and of the want of cottages in rural districts, he can say whether the Government will build 34,000 cheap cottages in Great Britain as has been done in Ireland?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Burns)

The answer is in the negative.

Mr. HUNT

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why the Government refuse to do anything for the country workers in Great Britain while doing so much for country workers in Ireland?
