HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 cc701-2
50. Mr. BUTCHER

asked the Prime Minister how many meetings of the Committee of the Cabinet appointed to inquire into the question of labour unrest have been held, and what conclusions, if any, have been arrived at; whether the Government have decided to hold a further and more searching inquiry into this subject; and, if so, whether he will state by whom such inquiry will be held and what will be the terms of the reference?

The PRIME MINISTER

I can add nothing to the answer given on the 5th instant by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on my behalf in reply to a question asked by the hon. Member for Devizes.

Mr. BUTCHER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Chancellor of the Exchequer more than a month ago stated that the Government hoped to arrive at a conclusion on this matter quickly, and to decide whether there should be a further and larger inquiry?

The PRIME MINISTER

Yes, that is so.

Mr. BUTCHER

Has not that conclusion yet been come to?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir.
