HC Deb 11 June 1912 vol 39 c679
18. Sir HILDRED CARLILE

asked whether Mr. Johns, the chief engineer of the Oudh and Rohilkhand Railway, has yet made any official report respecting the suggested railway line along the Mekran and Persian coasts to Bushire; and whether the Government of India is proceeding with the scheme?

Mr. MONTAGU

I understand that Mr. Johns has reported the result of his survey, but the Secretary of State has not yet seen his report. The answer to the latter part of the question is in the negative.

Sir H. CARLILE

Are we to understand that the Government of India does not propose to take any steps to carry out the scheme?

Mr. MONTAGU

Yes, Sir.
