HC Deb 10 June 1912 vol 39 cc505-6
15. Mr. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

asked how many complete and how many provisional schemes have been lodged under Section 72 of the National Insurance Act, and how many have been approved or sanctioned and how many have been disallowed?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The number of schemes under Section 72 of the National Insurance Act, 1911, confirmed by the Registrar is seventy-seven, namely, fifty-one schemes and twenty-six provisional schemes. No schemes or provisional schemes have been disallowed, but 187 have been returned to the societies with suggestions for amendment. In addition, 163 registered friendly societies have shown to the satisfaction of the registrar that they do not fall within the Section. Many of the largest orders are engaged in preparing schemes for their branches and it is anticipated that several thousand of these will be submitted to the Registrar very shortly.

Mr. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

May I ask, with regard to the 187 forms that have been sent back, whether they will be accepted if they are sent back again without alterations?

Mr. MASTERMAN

They were only suggestions for amendments that were made.

Mr. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

But are those suggestions to be insisted upon?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I cannot say that in regard to every individual case, but that is the present position.
