HC Deb 10 June 1912 vol 39 c524
46. Mr. FELL

asked when it is proposed to proceed with the Report of the Resolutions agreed to in Committee of Ways and Means?

The PRIME MINISTER

I fear it is not yet possible to fix a date.

Mr. FELL

May I have the Prime Minister's assurance that it will be taken, and that the Finance Bill will be brought in in the usual course before we separate for the summer?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am afraid I cannot give that assurance.

Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSON

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that never in the last twenty-five years has the introduction of the Finance Bill been postponed so late as 30th June?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should like to consult the records.

Mr. AUSTEN CHAMBERLAIN

Will the right hon. Gentleman refresh his memory as to the answer he gave me before the Whitsuntide adjournment. He promised, I think he will remember, that the Report of the Sinking Fund Resolution should be taken at an early date—he did not fix the exact date—but he agreed that we should have favourable time for its discussion?

The PRIME MINISTER

I adhere to everything I said, Sir.
