§ 63. Mr. MACMASTERasked what examination was made of the watertight compartments of the steamship "Titanic" with a view to ascertaining their efficiency, either during construction or before the sailing of the ship from Southampton; who made such examination or examinations, and on what date or dates; what reports, if any, were made thereon, and when; and what action, if any, was taken by the Board of Trade upon such reports before the sailing of the ship?
Mr. BUXTONIt appears to me that as full evidence as to the surveys of the "Titanic" by the Board of Trade officers will be given before the Court of Inquiry, it is hardly advisable to go into the matter at the present time by way of question and answer in this House.
