Mr. JOHN WARDasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the action of the employers at the Fylde Waterworks, Benacre, Lancs., who supply their workmen with a tommy book for the works' stores, where the men are supplied with food, etc., the tommy book being handed in at the office on pay day and the cost of the stores deducted from the workmen's wages; and whether, in view of the provisions of the Truck Acts, he proposes to make inquiries, or what other action he intends to take, to put an end to these practices?
