HC Deb 04 June 1912 vol 39 c113
Colonel SEELY

I beg to move, "That this House do now adjourn."

Mr. ARTHUR STRAUSS

I am sorry to have to detain the House for a short period in order to call attention to a vital matter not only to my Constituents, but to London and to the entire Territorial Force. Mass meetings have been held of protest and of indignation at the action of the War Office in regard to the Paddington Rifles, and it is my intention to voice that indignation in this House at the first opportunity presented to me. The War Office suddenly and without notice, and without proper inquiry, suspended the 10th battalion, known as the Paddington Rifles—

Notice taken that forty Members were not present. House counted, and forty Members not being present,

The House was adjourned at Eighteen minutes before Ten of the clock until to-morrow (Wednesday).
