HC Deb 04 June 1912 vol 39 c10
10. Sir J. D. REES

asked in what cases and to what extent classes, persons, or nationalities in the United Kingdom have availed themselves of the right to contract out of the benefits provided by the Insurance Act?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I have no knowledge to what contracting out provisions the hon. Member refers, nor have any representations been received from any classes, persons, or nationalities asking for such contracting out provisions.

Sir J. D. REES

Were the Irish exempted wholesale from the various provisions of the Act?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No, I do not think the Irish were exempted at all. Insurance in Ireland is as operative as insurance in the other parts of the Kingdom.

Sir J. D. REES

To the same extent?

Mr. MASTERMAN

Yes.
