HC Deb 25 July 1912 vol 41 cc1320-1
The CHAIRMAN of WAYS and MEANS (Mr. Whitley)

I beg to move, in Standing Order 105 (Committee of Selection and General Committee on Railway, etc., Bills to appoint first sitting of Committee), to leave out the words "Second Reading" ("interval between the Second Reading"), and to insert instead thereof the word "committed."

This is consequential on what the House approved last Tuesday.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

I do not think the right hon. Gentleman has given a sufficient explanation. In what way is this consequential on what was passed? The right hon. Gentleman did not even speak loudly enough to explain what was done or when it was done.

Mr. WHITLEY

On Tuesday I explained the alteration proposed, and that was approved by the House. This small point was omitted by error in drafting, and it is purely consequential on what the House then approved.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

That is quite satisfactory, and I accept it.

Question put, and agreed to.
