HC Deb 25 July 1912 vol 41 cc1354-5
63. Colonel BURN

asked who is responsible for the contribution under the provisions of the National Insurance Act in the following case: A re-engaged soldier voluntarily paying l½d. under the National Insurance Act is employed as servant to an officer, and the soldier's wife acts as cook; what contribution has to be paid by the latter and how much by the officer?

Mr. MASTERMAN

The circumstances of the soldier, as stated in the question, will not affect the position of the wife, who will be an employed contributor subject to the ordinary conditions in respect of her employment by the officer. The rates of contribution payable will depend upon her rate of remuneration in accordance with the Second Schedule to the Act. If her remuneration exceeds 2s. a day the normal contribution of 6d. a week will be payable, of which 3d. may be deducted from wages.
