HC Deb 19 July 1912 vol 41 cc664-5
35. Mr. LANSBURY

asked the names of the men and women in prison for offences connected with the suffrage agitation; how many, if any, of these prisoners are on hunger strike; how many, if any, are being forcibly fed; and whether all the prisoners are receiving the benefits of Rule 243A?

Mr. McKENNA

Four women and one man are in prison for offences connected with the suffrage agitation. They are all taking food in the natural way. The women are being treated under Rule 243A. The man, who was convicted of a violent assault, was sentenced to hard labour, and is not treated under Rule 243A.
