HC Deb 19 July 1912 vol 41 cc685-6
62. Mr. PIKE PEASE

asked whether a soldier or sailor invalided out of the Army or Navy after several years' service, who is unable to join an approved society, will have to wait at least three months before being able to obtain any benefits from the Army and Navy Insurance Fund; and, if so, can the Commissioners see their way to remedy this hardship?

Mr. MASTERMAN

No, Sir; a soldier or sailor invalided out of the Army or Navy would at once be entitled to benefits out of the Army and Navy Insurance Fund after proving that the state of his health is such that he cannot obtain admission to an approved society. The Commissioners are now endeavouring to arrange that where a soldier or sailor is discharged in such a state of health that he will clearly be unable to join an approved society, he may be at once admitted to the Army and Navy Insurance Fund on a certificate from the Army and Navy doctor.
