74. Mr. PRETYMAN

asked whether the Commissioners of Inland Revenue claim that brine is a mineral and subject to Mineral Rights Duty?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer to the hon. Member for Brentford on the 10th June last.

Mr. PRETYMAN

Was an answer given to this question at that time?

Mr. MASTERMAN

So I understand.

Mr. PRETYMAN

No answer was given.

Mr. SPEAKER

The hon. Gentleman is not entitled to make a speech.

Mr. PRETYMAN

I am going to ask a question. Will the right hon. Gentleman kindly give me an answer to my perfectly plain and simple question?

Mr. MASTERMAN

If no answer was given I will gladly give one, and express regret to the hon. Gentleman for having referred him wrongly. I understood that an answer was given at that time.
