The number of adults (persons over sixteen years of age) whose emigration at the cost of the poor rate in England and Wales was authorised by Orders of the Local Government Board during each of the past five years is as follows:—

Mr. BURNS

About equally divided between men and women; but the great majority, about 80 per cent., of the people emigrated by boards of guardians were children.
