HC Deb 21 February 1912 vol 34 c615
Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked whether the members of the Committee on Irish Finance were selected on account of their general financial ability or their special knowledge of Irish conditions; and whether any member of the Financial Relations Commission, which reported in 1896, was invited to sit upon it?

The PRIME MINISTER

All the members of the Committee were men of financial authority, and some of them had special Irish acknowledge. It would be contrary to practice to say who were and who were not invited to sit on the Committee.

Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether Mr. Sexton was invited or not?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have said it would be contrary to practice to say who were or who were not.

Mr. GINNELL

Can the right hon. Gentleman inform the House which of the Commissioners has this special Irish knowledge?

The PRIME MINISTER

That is a matter of opinion.

Mr. WATT

Has a Committee been appointed to inquire into Scottish affairs?
