HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 c446
Mr. WEDGWOOD

asked the Colonial Secretary whether he will take advantage of the presence of Mr. Temple, C.B., in this country to obtain a report on the working of the Native Lands and Rights (1911) Ordnance in Northern Nigeria, and lay the same up on the Table of the House?

Mr. HARCOURT

The Ordinance in question has only been in force for about a year, and, as far as I am aware, has given rise to no difficulties in its working. I do not think any report on the subject could usefully be prepared at the present date, but if one were required it would be called for from the Governor of the Protectorate, and not from one of his subordinate officers on leave of absence in this, country.
