HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 c461
Mr. SHEEHAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the Macroom Rural District Council made the regulations with respect to the letting of cottages and allotments under the Labourers' Acts required by Section 29 of the Act of 1906; whether these regulations contained a schedule of rents to be reserved in lettings; and, if so, will he state what these rents are, and whether the tenancies to which they apply are weekly or monthly?

Mr. BIRRELL

The Macroom Rural District Council made the regulations referred to in February, 1910. The rents provided by the regulations are as follows:—Cottage and half acre plot, 10d. a week; cottage and acre plot, if provided under Scheme Seven or a subsequent scheme, 1s. 1d. a week; cottage and acre plot, if provided under scheme prior to Scheme Seven, 1s. a week; acre plot pending erection of cottage, 3d. a week. Scheme Seven was sanction in 1908, and the first record the Local Government Board have of any cottages erected under this scheme being completed was in October, 1910, that is subsequent to the sanctioning of the regulations by them.
