HC Deb 20 February 1912 vol 34 c447
Mr. BURGOYNE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether alterations in constructional details are being made in the battle-cruisers of the "Lion" type; if so, the nature of the alterations; and why they have been found necessary?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Churchill)

Certain alterations are being made in His Majesty's Ship "Lion" as a result of recent experience. It is not considered advisable to state their nature in full detail; and any statement in general terms would convey no valuable information. The same alterations are being made in the sister ship "Princess Royal." They will be completed in a few weeks.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell us the cost of the alterations to the "Lion"?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I think, between £25,000 and £30,000.
