19. Mr. MONTAGUE BARLOWasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies 1478 whether he has now received a reply from the Governor of Southern Nigeria with regard to the case of W. B. Jackson; what the nature of the reply is, and whether he can lay Papers upon the Table on the subject, including the letter sent to the Governor requesting his consideration of the matter, and the Governor's reply?
Mr. HARCOURTThe Governor states that, in his opinion, the sentence was a very lenient one, and that he can see no grounds to justify a remission. I do not think it necessary to lay Papers on the subject.
