HC Deb 17 December 1912 vol 45 c1266
1. Sir JOHN RANDLES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether it will come within the purview of the proposed Conference to consider questions relating to duties on Lancashire manufactures that would be increased by alteration of boundaries and which might not receive such favourable treatment as is accorded by Turkey; and, if not, can he give some assurance that the interests of our exporters are being safeguarded?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply that I gave to the lion. Member for Preston on 11th December in regard to the attitude of His Majesty's Government respecting commercial interests. We will give all possible attention to them, whenever there is opportunity and need. In regard to the meeting of a Conference I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the hon. Member for Central Hull on 5th December, and to the statement which I made to the House on the 11th instant. I cannot add to these at present.
