asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether he is aware that the Operative Bricklayers' Society, Edinburgh branch, complain that on Mr. Lownie's contract at the Royal Scottish Museum, Edinburgh, Rule 8 of their working agreement, which stipulates that no others than bricklayers shall be allowed to do any kind of bricklaying work except in cases where work of less than six hours is required, is being broken; and that the Fair-Wages Clause is not being observed in the case of masons and bricklayers; and whether he will have inquiry made into this complaint?

The complaint has already been brought to the notice of the First Commissioner, and steps have been taken to secure the due observance by the eon-tractor of the working agreement referred to.
