HC Deb 04 December 1912 vol 44 cc2284-5
49. Mr. FRED HALL (Camberwell, Dulwich)

asked the Prime Minister if the Land Inquiry Committee are proceeding on lines embodied in a memorial with regard to land taxation presented to him by the land values group of the House of Commons, consisting of a number of supporters of the Government; whether such memorial has been submitted to him on three separate occasions, and, if so the dates when it was so submitted; and if he will lay a copy of the memorial upon the Table?

The PRIME MINISTER

As I have already stated, the unofficial Committee decide their own procedure according to their own discretion. The memorial to which I presume the hon. Member refers, was submitted to me on two occasions, 3rd August, 1910, and 18th May, 1911. The whole text of the memorial has been repeatedly published in the Press.

Mr. F. HALL

Is the House to understand that the right hon. Gentleman completely dissociates himself from the Committee and the proceedings of the Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

I thought I had made the position perfectly clear in the previous answer; I have nothing to add to it.
