HC Deb 01 April 1912 vol 36 c852
Mr. HAMERSLEY

asked whether, on the occasion of the Honourable the Minister of Marine and Fisheries of the Dominion of Canada's visit to England for the purpose of consultation with the Board of Admiralty as to the future co-operation or otherwise of Canada with Great Britain in naval affairs, he will invite representatives of the other Dominions over-seas to attend the consultation at the same time, with the view of forming some scheme for the establishment of one Imperial Navy and one Naval War Staff for the whole Empire?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt, for the Prime Minister)

No, Sir; in the absence of an official request from Canada, I am not prepared to make up any such proposals.
