HC Deb 26 October 1911 vol 30 c304

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether, in view of the tributes to the value of the aeroplane in the recent French and German manœuvres, he can state approximately the number of military aeroplanes of modern pattern acquired or ordered by the War Offices of France and Britain respectively?

Colonel SEELY

There are approximately 200 military aeroplanes in France. In England the War Department has acquired or ordered sixteen aeroplanes.

Colonel YATE

Might I ask the right hon. Gentleman how many officers are being trained for these aeroplanes?

Colonel SEELY

I shall have an opportunity of making a statement on Monday on all those points. Perhaps I had better defer it to then.
