§ Mr. DAVID MASONI should like to correct a statement made on Tuesday in a question which I addressed to the Prime Minister. Perhaps the House will recollect that in a supplementary question I put to the right hon. Gentleman I inquired if he was aware of the fact that Italy had suggested to the Convention that it would not be regarded as an unfriendly act if good offices were offered. I find I was mistaken in making that statement, and I desire to correct it. I believe Italy agreed with other Powers that such an offer of good offices would not be regarded as unfriendly, but suggested that the good offices should be offered during the course of the war. This rather strengthens the point I wished to make.
