HC Deb 26 October 1911 vol 30 c419
Mr. WATSON RUTHERFORD

On the Order Paper to-day there are forty-two Private Bills, and many hon. Members on all sides of the House who are interested in those Bills, either as supporters or opponents, wish to know whether, having regard to the Resolution passed the day before yesterday, there is any chance or occasion on which they can come on this Session, because, if there is not, one might respectfully suggest that they might be omitted from the Order Paper. If there is no possible chance of the Orders coming on at all under these circumstances, it would relieve the minds of Members if they knew that that was the case. On the other hand, if there was an opportunity this Session of Bills coming on we should like to know. There is a great deal of doubt among hon. Members on the subject which justifies me in asking the question, and we shall be very glad to know what the position is.

Mr. SPEAKER

It may relieve the hon. Member's mind if I say that there is no chance of any of these Bills coming on unless the Government fathers any one of them and interposes such Bill before the last Government Order of the Day. By the Order of the House, passed the day before yesterday, as soon as Government business is concluded, I have to put the question, "That this House do now adjourn."

Adjourned accordingly at Eleven o'clock.
