HC Deb 25 October 1911 vol 30 c110
Mr. CHARLES BATHURST

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he has taken any administrative, or proposes to take any legislative, action in consequence of the reports of Dr. J. M. Hamill and Dr. Monier-Williams presented to his Department in reference to the adulteration of baking powders and self-raising flour, the bleaching of flour, the addition of so-called improvers to flour, and the respective nutritive values of breads made from the different constituents of the wheat grain in varying proportions?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Burns)

The matters referred to are still under consideration.

Mr. C. BATHURST

How long are they likely to remain under consideration?

Mr. BURNS

The hon. Member must know, and should know, that since the two reports to which he refers in his question were issued, I have had to see a number of important deputations, and I have still to see two more on the subject.
